Rules of conduct for students of the Classical Academy
The mission of Classic Academy is to give children the necessary knowledge, to develop them both intellectually and physically, and all this in accordance with the Orthodox Christian Doctrine. This means that children receive not only academic knowledge, but also learn to be Orthodox Christians - to love and respect their parents, honor their mentors, respect their elders, treat their classmates and friends with respect.
A student of the Academy should show, by his behavior and attitude to others, his/her love for God, for his/her neighbors, and for gaining new knowledge in class.
1. Be on time for class. If late, a student cannot enter the classroom without knocking.
2. Greet the teacher standing up.
3. Do not talk during the lesson, if you want to answer, raise your hand.
4. The student should be ready for the lesson: the backpack should have the necessary textbooks, notebooks, stationery, pencils should be sharpened, it is desirable to have a few in reserve. The sharpener in the classroom can only be used during recess.
5. Drinks and food are prohibited in the classroom.
Recess.
1. It is forbidden to run down the corridor, run out and run into the classroom.
Lunch Time.
1. It is forbidden to bring foreign objects (toys, books, game cards, etc.) to the dining room for lunch.
2. Students must be at lunch at 12:30 pm, a prayer is read before lunch.
3. During lunch, you cannot play with food and cutlery.
4. Communicate with each other quietly, do not make noise, do not shout.
5. After eating, clean up the table.
6. At 13:00, at the signal of a teacher or a priest, get up for a Thanksgiving prayer. During the prayer, do not walk or run around the hall, the prayer began, stand facing the Icon of the Savior and join the prayer. 3.7. After prayer, go to the toilet, drink water, wash your hands.
On a walk.
1. Students must change their school shoes for walking shoes. Clothing should match the weather.
2. If it is cold outside and there is no appropriate outerwear, the student is not allowed to walk.
3. Students without a change of shoes is not allowed to walk.
4. On a walk, you cannot leave the group and leave the visibility zone of the caregiver responsible for the walk.
5. Before and after the walk, all personal belongings in the locker room should be in order, nothing should be lying on the floor, shoes are neatly arranged.
6. It is forbidden to bring natural materials (leaves, stones, grass, earth, flowers, etc.) from a walk.
The system of disciplinary penalties for violations of discipline and rules of the Classic Academy.
1. After 3 (three) remarks-warnings from teacher the student must stay on detention (is deprived of a walk on the same day if violations occurred before the long break and is deprived walking the next day, if violations occurred after a long break, then the student loses a walk the next day). During the detention, a conversation is held with the student about understanding the reason for the detention and about ways to correct the situation.

For systematic violation of discipline and rules of the Classical Academy, which includes the use of profanity, arguing with the teacher, causing bodily harm to other students, damage to school property, theft, deception. (a letter will be sent to the student's parents informing them of the suspension and indicating the reason for the suspension, with the date of suspension and the date of return).
4. On the first school day after the suspension, a conversation is held with the student about understanding the reasons for the suspension and how to avoid it in the future.
5. After three cases of suspension from classes, the school council meets with the obligatory presence of parents and the Confessor of the Classical Academy. At this meeting, the issue of expelling a student from Classic Academy will be decided.
Tuition
- 20% of tuition cost is due by the 1st of September, the remaining 80% to be split into 8 monthly payments due by the 1st of every month from October through May. Payments can be made through Zelle (classicacademy21@gmail.com), or by check (made out to “Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral”). When paying by check, please mark “Classic Academy” and the name of student on the memo line.
- Payments will be considered late 10 days after due date. In cases of late payment, a $25 late fee will be charged. If a payment due remains delinquent for 30 days or more without approval from the School Board, the student(s) may not be admitted to school until the account has been brought current.
Refunds
- Refunds, credits, or tuition reductions for absences, vacations, snow days, illnesses, or holidays are not given.
- Refunds in case of withdrawal will be given with the approval of the School Board.
Arrival and Dismissal
- Students are to arrive at school between 8:00 and 8:10am. The school day will begin with prayer at 8:15am in the school Hall. All students must be on a prayer.
- The doors at the school are closed until 9:05 a.m. All teachers are in classes and do not have rights to leave the classroom in order to let latecomers into the school building.
- If you are late, please warn in advance so that the school staff will find an opportunity to let you in after the start of classes or you can come at 9:05 in the morning.
- Parents are to walk their students to the school doors, where a teacher will greet them.
- Students are to be picked up at 3:30pm at the school doors. Preschool (Kolokolchik) students are to be picked up no later than 5pm. Students will not be permitted to leave the school without a parent. Students remaining for after‐school activities and/or extended day are to be picked up at the proper time at the school doors.
- If your child is picked up by one of your relatives or acquaintances not listed in the list of authorized persons, you must notify the Academy Administration in advance about who will pick up your child from school. The authorized person must present an identity card to the School Administration upon arrival for the child.
- Important: It is not allowed to bring toys and any other things that do not belong to the category of school supplies to the school, exchanges of personal belongings and gifts (except for Birthdays) are prohibited.
Extended Day
- If extended day is needed, parents must inform the Administration in writing (via email: classicacademy21@gmail.com) and pay for the service (via Zelle: (classicacademy21@gmail.com) on or before the 25th of the previous month. Extended day is $10/hour, $5 for an additional meal (served at 3:45pm). No need to pay for an additional meal for preschool students. They are fed a snack at 3:30pm.
- For extended day needed in the month of September, please email, and pay on or before the 1st of September.
Extra‐Curricular Activities

Late Pickup Fees
Students are to be picked up no later than 10 minutes after the end of the student’s school day. Parents picking up their students after the allowed 10-minute window will be charged a $12 late fee for each 10-minute period. This includes after‐school activities and/or extended day.
COVID‐19
The health and safety of our students, staff and families remain our first priority. Classic Academy will follow the guidelines set forth by the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois State Board of Education and local authorities in all health and safety decisions.
